TWIGS PreK Curriculum was designed for Zimbabwean kids aged 3-5 and is easy to use at home or in a classroom. TWIGS is being used by students in Zimbabwe and around the world and helps to develop strong pre-writing and pre-reading skills while building vocabulary, developing fine motor skills, and introducing children to God’s word.
TWIGS is available for free for individual use and all materials can be downloaded from our TWIGS Downloads page.

Learning Activities
Each day, the lesson plan suggests a learning activity to connect with that week’s theme. Many of these activities involve picture cards to improve vocabulary. These picture cards are included in the Teacher’s Guide.
Practical Life Skills
Preschool/kindergarten isn’t just about the alphabet, it’s also about learning everyday skills like saying please and thank you, pouring water into a cup, washing a bowl, sweeping, and tidying up toys. Each week your students will learn a new practical skill.
Worksheets
Every lesson plan includes daily worksheets for your students. These worksheets include prewriting practice, letter and number tracing, colouring, painting, cut-and-paste, tracing and drawing shapes, and sorting upper and lowercase letters.
The School Year
TWIGS follows the Zimbabwean school year. Term 1 starts in January and goes through March. Term 2 begins in May and continues through July. Term 3 is from September to November. Included in each term are holiday lessons linked to Zimbabwean holidays. These include Unity Day, Heroes and Defence Forces Days, Worker’s Day, Africa Day, Independence Day, and Youth Day. There are also holiday lessons for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and Easter.
Should you not wish to follow the Zimbabwean school year, you can adapt the curriculum to fit your school calendar.
